Horses for Sale at Avalon Farm (and others that live here)
Avalon's Rudy is a 2003 old Thoroughbred that was bred as a sport horse and was never raced by Melissa Mihalovich by the sire Dark Hyacinth who has been on the USEF hunter breading list as a top Hunter Sire. I bought him at 3 and brought him along slowly as I wanted him to remain sound and healthy. Rudy has competed for the last several years mostly as a Hunter and an Equitation mount. Over the last year I have moved him into Jumpers as he tends to be a little quick over a course. He is extremely handy and his turns are top notch. His movement is fantastic and always places undersaddle. He trot is very flowy. We competed the last 2 show seasons at 3ft but at home have schooled up to 3'6". This boy has the jump in him and all the talent and scope you could ask for. I have trail ridden him and gone just about everywhere with him. We even did a demo for Colleen Kelly in a round pen at WEG in 2010. He placed 2nd last year at the Aiken horse show in Amateur US in a class of 16 and tough completion. He has won year end Championships every year in MOHJO and MHSA since 2008. Saying all that he is not a ride for a beginner rider. He needs an advanced rider who can support him and navigate him around a course. He is UTD on everything and has no vices. This one has more personality than any horse I have owned and this is a hard decision to even think about selling him. This boy is a looker, he has a classic hunter face. He is a big boy just under 17H. My only reason for even listing him is I have bought a new horse to do Hunters on and I just don't have the money or the time to show 2 horses. This boy can take you far! Asking Price $8500 Will consider a lease option.
Horses of Avalon Farm (oh and other critters)
Cricket the Goat
Arthur is a Missouri Bred OTTB however he was race trained but never raced as he was just to slow. This boy is a fancy one his movement is fantastic. This one will win in the show ring. He has a great mind and loves his people. There is no spook in this one he is actually rather inquisitive. He has been in professional training since Jan and is doing great. He has been showing this season by a young rider in the Beginner Rider division and has been in the ribbons at every show. No vices, loads, clips, good for farrier. Asking $8500 but price will go up with training and showing. Arthur has sold and is now in Georgia.
Ranger-Lives now in Washington, MO
This is Ranger aka French Diplomat (his registered name). He is a 8 year old OTTB that joined us here at the farm 2 years ago. Ranger is a big boy and stands at 16.3H. This boy is a sweetheart,he loves people and attention. He is currently for sale. I am selling him strictly as a prospect. I bought him straight off the track and gave him a year off to learn to just be a horse. I do not have his Jockey Club papers. I started him last spring with just basic hacking but then I ran out of time, so he went back to just being a pasture horse. He's jumped over a couple of cross rails last spring and jumped them without any hesitation. I did have him in Georgia this winter for two months and did return him to training. I mostly focused on flat work now as I want him to have a solid foundation. At this point, with the weather, he has about 3 weeks of riding. I had him on the hotwalker while there to get him fit as he is very out of shape and needs to be conditioned. I have returned to St Louis and have not had a chance to get back on him since he has been home so he is back to being a lazy, spoiled pasture horse. Mostly he needs a job and I just have to many horses to give him the time he deserves. He is good for farrier, baths, grooming and cross ties. I did body clip him recently he stood without any problems. He loads right in the trailer. His only vice is that he does cribb. I keep a collar on him and that helps. He is not a beginner horse. He needs an experienced rider that has the time to bring him along. All reasonable offers will be considered. More than anything I would like to find him a good home that will use him to his full potential. Photos taken on 2/26/13. Asking price $1200
